Dear Ones,
During these chaotic and frightening times, so many of us are feeling scared, anxious, depressed, and filled with dread. Partially this is a natural reaction, given all the uncertainty and chaos of our world today. And these tensions can build exponentially when we spend too much time watching and absorbing the news. Our news too often is negative and seems meant to incite reactivity and fear. These feelings, while natural, can be destabilizing and leave us feeling powerless, lethargic, and unable to cope adequately with our lives.
Yet, when we look deeper into our lives from a karmic perspective, we are meant to be exactly where we are right now. Our souls chose this time for reasons that we do not consciously understand. There is a much larger soul purpose in our being alive during these days. We were meant to live in these times, to participate fully in them, to learn and grow from them, to live from our soulful natures, and to do our parts to bring about great change in our world.
When we remember who we truly are, we realize that we are powerful. We are courageous. We can, and will, be active participants in our democracy, in our communities, and in our global community. We are living our great spiritual journeys right now, and we have much to do, much to say, and much to learn. We are the Truth Seekers and the Truth Sayers. We are the wisdom keepers and the spiritual warriors. As soul dances, our voices, our hands, and our actions are enlightened and enlivened when we contemplate and meditate and return home to that which is sacred within us. Our world needs each one of us to bring the wisdom of the Divine into our lives to counter the toxicity that seems to be forefront in our world today.
Remember we are the Light Bearers and the Light Keepers – the holders of the light of divine consciousnbess so that all our actions energize ourselves and others who are ready to receive. We are here to remember who we truly are, at the highest levels of our being, to remember that we, right now, are living our soul’s journey, in the midst of a global pandemic, an upsurge in racism, misogyny, and hatred for the others, and in the center of the most consequential election of our lifetime.
So how do we step out of and away from the chaotic news cycles and the damage they do to our mental, physical, and spiritual health? One obvious and partial solution is to limit our time spent being passive spectators watching the news. With awareness, we soon discover how much news watching is too much, what happens to our physical and psychological health when we overload on the news, and when to correct course to participate more fully in our own families and in our own lives.
This shift from passive consumer and the resultant harm of too much passive viewing has to do with becoming more engaged in our lives as they are right now, at this moment. We know the benefits, the necessities of being more active, more grounded in our bodies, more participatory with our families and loved ones, and in deeper communion with the natural world and with our spiritual lives. All such healthy choices remind us of who we are, how connected and strong we can be. And really, it is that simple and that complex as we practrice caring for our beautiful Selves, our bodies, our families and friends. When we do, our energies shift to more hopeful, positive and vital states because we have come home one again to our true, magnificient and soul connected Selves.
Another vital Soul Dance practice that is of immense value is to write, to journal, and to contemplate…
- Who am I in this moment?
- If I have lost my way, how do I return to my true and soulful path?
- What is it I need to do this day, to return to harmony, vitality, strength, love, and balance?
- If there are energies or ways I need to release, how will I do so?
- What is it I need to say to have a positive and true voice in the midst of all the cacophony? Or do I need to stay silent? If so, why?
- What actions do I need to take to be a Light Bearer and a Truth Keeper?
- And how do I take exquisite care of my golden Self each and every day?
So, dear people of the sun, of the moon, of the stars, of the mountains, and of the sands, bring these words deep into your hearts and minds.
Once you have clarity in your answers, please write affirmations to ground your ways, to turn them into intentions and actions. Each affirmation starts with I am ____________________ and contains only positive and powerful words. For example: “I am courageous” and “I am a spiritual being with much to offer these days.”.
Now turn these affirmations into prayers so that you are creating communion with your sacred Self and so that you are sending these energies on high creating a lighted bridge from your personal self to your most radiant Self and then back again. In this way, our affirmations are enlivened and made sacred.
An then, as a final and powerful touch, sit in meditation, in silence for a time,to ground these energetic shifts deep into your being.
Please contemplate these words and these questions as often as is necessary to stay grounded in your truth and to remember who you really are and what your divine purpose is at this time. Refresh your affirmations frequently – each morning before you begin your day and in the evening after the day is done. Then bow to your inner Self in Namaste.
